    Powell has always been my favourite sprinter because of his technique. I wonder what his times would be if a 200m straight sprint existed. Hearing is avergaes and the frequency he was running sub 10 might be more impressive than his technique and actually blows my mind and staying injury free for the most part

    how do you spell the name of the sprinter who ran a 9.88?

  • @Leonidas-eu9bb
    @Leonidas-eu9bb 2 дня назад

    I think you are wrong about the forces. Horizontal force is always the most important force. At top speed horizontal force must be still present because of wind resistance and breaking forces in the early stance phase. More Vertical force doe NOT make one faster. It's just necesscary to get enough fligth time to reposition the limbs. Faster sprinters are able to create more horizontal force in relation to vertical force. That means at the same running velocity they apply more horizontal force. Longer legs are an advantage to achieve a higher top speed because longer levers make it easier to produce more horizontal force! More horizontal force = more horizontal speed!

    Great video. I just want to add something. Nothing major. When exiting the blocks. There's a moment where the front leg reaches full extention and you can draw a line from the foot to your head. It's called "Triple extension". Triple because the 3 points that are lined up are your feet, hips and head. In fact the thumbnail in the video is exactly that.

    • @Leonidas-eu9bb
      @Leonidas-eu9bb 2 дня назад

      everybody knows what it is! Triple extension should not be intended for an effective start by the way. Indeed it's a big mistake to fully triple extend, because it's more efficient to quickly recover instead!

    Steroids don’t affect all the same way, what they usually do produce on most people is very developed traps and a shoulders (even without specific training) so some of them even though are quite skinny/athletic still have those parts very developed

    Ok so does hip flexion range have a correlation to speed or not? I would have liked to see this aspect explored further as mobility is often mentioned as a key to improving your speed. I do distance running. Not sure if that matters in all this. But I struggle with what modification to my form will help me improve my pace. I am 5’2” but I feel like I expend sooo much more energy than other similar heighted women to keep the same pace. Also I have long legs. If knowing that helps!

    These guys practice hours just like NFL and NBA athletes, but their events it only lasts for 10 or 20 seconds, where team sports can last 90 minutes. The entertainment value is much more luring and one can squeeze in so many more endorsements if the period of the event is longer.

    I gave number one to Elaine Thompson because to watch her run was artwork but I gave a close number two for Marion Jones because you’re 100% right with her bouncy type running style. These two ladies express rate great power but Fraser Pryce is just a hand clap away because someone so small can explode with such power is icing on all cakes.

    Arm movements are equally important, perhaps oddly enough. But it’s the arms that propel you forward, I guess long arms would be important too. So muscular arms is an advantage in the short distances, while probably a disadvantage in the longer ones.
